Frontotemporal dementia causes loss of emotional content/color of memories

In a study by NeuRA (Neuroscience Research Australia), research may have found why FTD patients often can’t remember emotionally charged events, like weddings or funerals. It seems that the orbitofrontal cortex links emotional and memories, and if the front lobes of the brain are damaged by FTD, it decreases the patient’s ability to remember more emotional experiences.
