Study finds brain connections key to reading

MIT researchers have found that pathways that exist even more a child learns to read may determine development of the brain’s word-recognition area. They found that they could predict the exact location where each child’s visual word form area (VWFA) would develop simply based on the connections of that region to other parts of the brain.
