Food insecurity in early childhood linked to lower brain skills in kindergarten

New research published in the journal “Child Development” has found that food insecurity in infancy and toddlerhood predicted lower cognitive and social-emotional skills in kindergarten. The timing of food insecurity isn’t the only thing affecting cognitive skills. The number of times a child experienced food insecurity also made a difference.
