Attention deficits due to lack of alignment among brain regions

Paying attention requires the brain to synchronize the activity of multiple brain regions. In the past, it was believed that attention deficits from TBIs were due to a loss of resources, whereas now it appears that perhaps there is just a lack of alignment among the different brain regions that respond to the “call to attention.”
